Hi kathleen, what you need is detoxification to get the chemicals out of your system. ever considered smoking inhalers? there are other quit smoking products in the market, don’t struggle alone
Hi I quit about 2 weeks ago using the patches. For me the hardest part was the mental barrier, the first day, once I got over that it got easier,I smoked 20-30 a day for 35 years.I know its hard but anything worth doing is going to be a bit of a pain.
You’ll have more money, your self respect and confidence will return, you’ll feel much better in yourself.I wish you all the luck in the world with quitting and will say a prayer for you.You have given up more difficult vices, dont quit quitting.ps this was not the first time I tried to quit but the first time I really commited to it,read Alan Carrs easy way to stop smoking, its a great tool in helping you stop, remember every time you put out your ciggarette you have quit, just make the next time last longer.
Dermot from Ireland.
I quit smoking 8 days ago with Chantix and it was alot easier than I thought it was going to be. I have tried to quit several times and failed now I don’t even want one. I do still think about it but more out of habit than anything. Don’t give up, think about Chantix, it really helped me. Good luck!
Two years, 7 months and ten days later: I couldn’t be happier. And as you see, I still look on the websites to support myself. Quit now, stay quit. Do it for your kids, if you can’t do it for yourself. Do it for your spouse, if you can’t do it for yourself. There will be a time when you don’t smoke again, allow for yourself, not the hospital, to determine when that will be. Work it, win it.
Get some chantax it works.
I quit the day after Thanksgiving 2009. Hardly make me 100% successful although I’m 99.9% sucessful. The other .1% will be out there for a long time (from experience) That .1% is the one cigarette it’ll take for someone who quit to fail and lose everything they worked so hard for to be 99.9% sucessful. Never give in.
The hardest part of quitting is getting through the first 4-5 days. You can do it! Remember This!
“How hard is it to just not do something”
The gift of “will power” is always there and is stronger than any drug. You have to want to stop smoking. Right all the good and bad things about smoking. Go all out with this. Make a List….. You’re smart, figure it out.
Good Luck and Congratualations. You just took the first step and passed.
I’m going on my 3rd day without a cigarette which may not seem like much to other people but I was a 2-packs a day smoker for 12 years. Started when I was 18 and realized that I had smoked nearly half my life. I got Chantix and smoked like normal for the first week. On the quit day I just wasn’t putting them down. The following week my cravings became less and less until I was smoking 10 on Tuesday, 6 on Wedenesday and finally said – I’m gonna try to go a full day without them. The first day wasn’t too bad… I just past the 48 hour mark and the cravings over the past 10 hours have almost been relentless. I’m hanging on tho (by a thread).
I’ve not smoked for the last 9 weeks. I used zyban and definitely would not have been able to quit without the mind “adjustment”. I’ve smoked for 27 years. The most important thing I realized is that it’s possible to function w/out the cigarette. Metaphorically, you will still enjoy that morning coffee. So quit and FREE yourself of the addiction. BTW, the stuff you read on the internet in regards to your health and self confidence after you quit are all 100% true.
I was a smoker for almost 50 years smoking average 6 to 8 cigarettes per day.I quit three months ago. I am comfortable from day one. Some times there is a mild craving. Nothing unbearable.I donot understand why people are struggling so much to kick the BUTT.

It is excellent.
Read this and NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF.
I quit for 5 months after smoking for 22 years. then I started again and smoked more than before. I’m finally quitting again and it’s only been 3 days but I already feel better. My girlfriend smokes and I already can’t stand the smell.
I quit smoking on 12/2010 with the help of Chantix. I have smoked 2 1/2 packs a day for almost 35 yrs. I have been a non-smoker for 14 mos and am loving it. You can do it!!! The rewards are great!!! I am not out of breath when I play with my grandchildren and I do not have that constant cigarette smell. It is amazing, but to people who do not smoke, that smell is awful. I thought that I could cover it up with gum or a breath mint. No such luck. For you smokers out there. Keep trying until you finally stop. You will feel and smell so much better.
I quit after waking up in Intensive Care and then being on a ventilator for 3 weeks, The thought of being on a ventilator to help me breath really scared me….I kept on remembering the advert on the TV where the lady is sat in an armchair with a portable oxygen cylinder and wearing breathing mask, she was wheezing and coughing…..Its awful…..Not smoked or even had a drag for exactly 2 months ..Goodluck to everyone who wants to stop,..
I gave up smoking after 27 years, pack/day, by reading an incredible book,”the easy way to stop smoking,” by Allen Carr. It is truly an amazing book!
hey this is my second day and i don`t intent to turn back
for nottin at all….
I agree with the comment above- one book helps tremendously- Allen Carr, The Easy Way. Look into it. It puts everything into perspective!!!!
After 34 years of smoking 1 to 2 packs of marlboros a day, I decided on July 23 2011 to just drop them. I thought it would be tougher than that, actually it was easy. It’s been 3 weeks and I can’t believe how well I feel… No more shortness of breath, no more coughing and wanting to puke in the morning from so much smoking. So much more energy, I sleep better, so does my wife. I no longer keep her up with my coughing. My blood pressure is down… I can go on and on… Wish I would of done it soner…
i cannot breath-i know i need to stop smoking.i ahve been a smoker for 30 years. and notice shortness of breath back 6 years ago, i should have quit then.i nned help now! thanks beforehand
I just quit smoking today. I just threw out all of my cigarettes. I’m 27 I smoked a half pack to a pack a day since I was 11. Sometimes I can go 5 days without smoking so this won’t be so bad. Recently I found a lump on my throat by my tonsil so I went to an ENT. The ENT told me it was a tonsil stone and said it would go away by allergy medicine and other instructions. And now I feel a rough patch inside of my right cheek. And my jaw and right cheek bone kind of hurts too. I’m not sure if it’s a viral infection or something related to smoking. Anyway, I just had it with smoking and I started way too young.
I started smoking at 13 years old now I am 52 yrs old and May 25 2011, I had surgery and before that I took the Chantix pills for a week so i won’t be having all the craves for the cigs. I went home that day but I kept cigarettes on hand a whole carton thinking of how I could not wait to have another cig. well i never did smoke i gave the cigs.pks. at a time as i realized I didn’t need them. I had smoked 3 pks. a day before this ,I had breathing problems day and night i had that smokers couch badly it is gone .I think i would smack myself silly if I every smoke again.good luck everyone …
Just dont tell yourself you are quitting.Tell yourself I can smoke whenever I want to but I am going to extend it for a while to see how I will feel.Dont punish yourself by telling yourself you are quitting just extend the urge to smoke.
If your having a hard time quitting I would have to say read Allan Cars book on the Easy way to quit smoking and talk to your doctor. I read the book and my doctor put me on Wellbatrin. I haven’t had a smoke in 7 day’s now. I feel fantastic. Drink a lot of water and hang in there. Your worth it!!!
I had my last cigarette on 15 Jan 2012 at 1am. That was 7 days ago and I feel GREAT! I wholeheartedly give credit and thanks to Alan Carr’s – Easyway to stop smoking. I never believed it could be “easy” to stop and it would frustrate the hell out of me when family and friends would just… stop! I couldn’t understand how they did it, but now I do. My wellbeing is improving daily and I now know what I’ve been missing out on for the last 20years of smoking.
I highly recommend Alan Carr’s – Easyway. Even if your not ready to stop, having a copy there for when you are ready would be a huge advantage:)
You can stop, when your ready
Its been two weeks and two days since I had a cigarette. Like so many of you, I have tried to quit several times over the years. But this time I looked at it as an addiction and how it was controlling my life. I looked at ALL the things that were not benefical that came with smoking. There is nothing positive in the act of smoking. I WILL NOT FAIL this time! I WILL it to happen for myself, my children and my life. I am constantly looking up the positive effects of not smoking, what happens to the body after so many days or weeks and where I am in the recovery stage. DOn’t think for one minute you can’t do it. WE are here for each other, to get and give inspiration. To know…This is my time to quit!
Almost at the end of the first 24 hours without a cig. I’ll be the first to say it’s not fun and I’m doing it cold turkey. I’m craving very badly right now, but, I look at my girlfriend (a non-smoker) and the kids, and I want to be in their lives in the future. I smoked a pack a day, more-or-less for 30 years, and quit 3 times before. This time I WANT to quit, for me, not anyone else….wish me luck!!!!
I think best way to quit is cold turkey with no drugs no zymbian nothing. Believe me you wont get any withdrawl symptom. For more info read the book ” NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF”.
I have quit cold turkey as well it has been 5 days now and I am doing well use to smoke 2 packs a day since I was 15 now going on 44, just got tired of shortness of breath and the coughing, I am using an electronic cig just for the hardcore cravings but so far not bad, I think it helps that I really want to quit this time, good luck to all that want to quit, NO MORE BUTTS!
