Heart Disease is the #1 killer of women in the U.S.

Today, February 6th, 2004, marks the first annual National Wear Red Day, a national campaign aimed at raising awareness about the risk of heart disease for women. Launched by the National Heart, Blood, and Lung Institute(NHLBI), The Heart Truth Campaign seeks to give women a personal and urgent wake-up call about the danger heart disease poses for them.
Heart disease kills 500,000 women every year in the United States, making it the number one health threat for women between 40 and 60 years of age. Most women are not aware of this fact, and if asked, the majority would say breast cancer is the biggest threat they face. In fact, breast cancer only kills 42,000 per year. Read more...
