Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema

COPD is a blanket term that covers both chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Both diseases involve damaged airways and a reduced ability to breathe. Because cigarette smoke destroys the delicate interior of the lungs, smokers are the most susceptible group of people for these illnesses.
