Allen Carr's The Easy Way to Stop Smoking - A Book Review

Thursday June 9, 2005
This book review comes to us from Smoking Cessation Forum member, Lesly, who read the book several months into her quit program. From Lesly: "After numerous attempts to quit his 100 cigarette a day habit, Allen Carr came up with a plan to quit smoking that finally worked for him. He wrote this book based on his plan. The book became a best seller and has sold millions world-wide."

well…i have to totally disagree with u. I used Allen Carr’s book and not only found it easy to stop…but i really enjoyed it to..i haven’t smoked for over 4 years and know i will never smoke again. Unlike other attempts…where i was always tempted to smoke and had to fight that temptation. the fight is no longer there. i bought copies of the book and gave them to both my brothers and their wives and they have all stoped smoking. I have bought copies for my friends and the only ones that have not stoped smoking are the ones who have not read it. I think a lot of people miss the point of this book…or should i say…this information. Whatever form this info comes in. It is societies attitude toward smoking that makes people continue to smoke. This attitude that it is difficult to quit is a load of nonsense and is only perpetuated by those that want to make money…ie: pharmacutical companies and many others. If by some miracle everyone woke up tmrw knowing the TRUE facts about smoking, as used in the Allen Carr method, smoking would be dead within a week. Allen Carr’s method changes this attitude in the individual just imagine what effect this would have on an entire society. Getting rid of this brianwashing that people are subjected to everyday once and for all. It is NOT difficult to stop smoking, u have only been conned into thinkingit is difficult and if u don’t beleive me read the book and u will soon realise that the whole attitude around smoking is a load of rubbish.

THE BOOK IS THE BEST THING THAT
EVER HAPPENED TO SMOKERS. THE
MAIN REASON A SMOKER DOES NOT STOP
SMOKING IS BECAUSE OF FEAR. CARR
TAKES AWAY THE FEAR AND THE BRAINWASHING
THAT HAS OCCURRED TO THE SMOKER.
IF MORE SMOKERS KNEW ABOUT THE BOOK THE
LESS SMOKERS THERE WOULD BE.

JUST A LITTLE CONFUSED WHEN CARR
STATES IN HIS BOOK THAT
SMOKING IS NOT A HABIT AND THEN
STATES A LITTLE FURTHER ALONG IN THE
BOOK THAT SMOKING IS A HABIT

I just order this book and I will try as this may be my last resort. I am not sure it will help but I will let you know. If I quit that will mean that this book is realy working. I smoke for over 20 years and I was never able to quit before.

i have read this book and i think it is the best thing i have ever read. i have not had any withdraw symptoms from nicotine. i smoked for 30 years and i stopped in one day. the great thing about this book is that he tells you not to quit until you finish the book. by the time i was finished with the book, i was excited about quitting. i could hardly wait to finish the book so that i could quit smoking. after reading this book, i know that i will never smoke another cigarette in my lifetime.

This is the best book EVER. I quit without any symptoms after over 30 years of smoking and trying to quit and quitting for short times and going back. If someone you know and love, smokes, buy this book for them! It does not preach or make the smoker feel bad. It explains everything and in a very nice, easy to read way!

I smoked about 1 1/2 packs a day for about 38 years … and Allen Carr’s method allowed me to quit! I had no cravings or even noticeable withdrawal symptoms. With the closing of the book … I just became free.

I had tried the nicotine patches previously … and Allen Carr’s book explained why they can’t/don’t work.

After I read the book … I suggested that my husband read it. My husband too was a heavy smoker. It took him about a month to get around to reading the book … but he did … and he too quit.

I purchased copies of EasyWay for my son, our nephew and a friend. We’ll see if they find it just as easy to quit with Allen’s method.

If you haven’t read this little book … and are convinced that quitting is hard … you NEED this book.

I have been a smoker for 36 years..a pack a day. I wanted to quit but was so anxious. I was given Zyban which just made me MORE anxious and I was panicking as my ‘quit date’ approached. I bought Allen Carr’s book on a Tuesday…read it though and could NOT wait to quit that night! I did not want to light my ‘ceremonial’ last ciggie but who was I to argue with such a genius. A brillian man who knows how to explain that cigarettes truly serve NO purpose whatsoever. I LOVE THAT I AM A NON-SMOKER who did not have to go through withrawals, anxiety, and who has NO desire to smoke. Neither does my mother who smoked for 56 years!! Buy and read this book if you want to quit smoking, You will be SO joyful when you quit…I promise!
