Quit Smoking While You're Young

When I smoked, I would tell myself that I had years and years of "free" smoking time before I needed to worry about quitting. My thought was that smoking related disease was reserved for the elderly, and as long as I quit before I got old, I'd be fine. Smokers are masters of denial!

Often, smoking is a slow killer, but not always. Sometimes it strikes with fatal force while a person is young, and it happens more often than you might think. Smoking is literally like playing russian roulette with your life.

One of the moderators for the About.com Smoking Cessation forum quit smoking when she was 31 years old, and she shares her perspectives here on why it makes sense to quit smoking while you're young.
