Your Reasons to Quit Smoking

Thursday November 3, 2005
The addiction to nicotine is powerful indeed. If you've tried to quit smoking and failed, you know how tough it is. Just thinking about quitting is enough to make most smokers edgy. It's been said the psychological, or mental side of nicotine addiction is more difficult to beat than cocaine or heroin. If you're in the position of wanting to quit smoking and not being able to, I'm sure you would agree with that.

Quitting is doable though, and thousands quit smoking successfully every year.

How do other people do it? More importantly, how can you do it? What is the trick to finding and holding onto the motivation to quit? Does it just magically come to a person when they're "ready" to quit smoking?

As we begin the month of November, it's a good time to take stock of why you smoke if you still do. November 17th will mark the 29th annual celebration of the Great American Smokeout, a day when people all over the nation make the effort to quit smoking for good.

Start preparing now for your quit day by thinking about the reasons why you smoke and why you want to quit smoking. Learn what you need to do to build a strong quit program, and you'll set yourself up for success.
