As Little as 5 Minutes of Exercise Can Curb the Urge

For those of you who have quit smoking and used exercise as a way to beat back cravings, this news will come as no surprise; walking, or any other form of moderate physical activity has the ability to reduce the urge to smoke in short order.

A group of researchers led by Dr. Adrian Taylor, professor of exercise and health psychology at the University of Exeter, England reviewed 12 studies investigating the links between exercise and nicotine withdrawal. Their findings support the idea that just 5 minutes of exercise can significantly curb nicotine cravings, thereby helping the person quitting tobacco maintain control with more comfort.
