One Year Smoke Free - Tiffany's Story
Thursday April 5, 2007
From Tiffany:- "I was the one with the fancy cigarette case, the cutesy lighters, the carton of cigarettes always on hand in the cabinet, and the need to have my "smoke time" in order to recover from an argument, pay bills, give advice to friends, cry, calm down, whatever! It was everything I did and everything I wanted. I did not know who I was without my smokes. I truly didn't have an identity that didn't include my smoking self."

I am so PROUD of YOU, Tiff! Keep it up, now I dont have to badger you any more! You look so much healthier, happier and even calmer. I will always be here for you!
Your Friend,
Loretta
Great and inspiring story!! You have validated my thoughts and feelings about smoking. I am new to this forum - I might have missed something….how did you do it? Did you quit cold turkey or did you use the patch, etc.
In my 2nd week of withdrawal. Amazing how that demon can screw with your mind.
I must say I am amazed at how good I feel. I have not felt healthier in years. I am 59 and feel like I am 21. I have energy I have never felt before. BUT, it is still a very, very difficult process that I would not suggest for anyone who is not prepared to fight the monster. He is very strong and very argumentative. I still wake up in the middle of the night thinking about cigarettes. He is rousing me, testing me to see if I am strong enough. This is no fun at all.
Awesome! Congrats to you! I am on my 5th day. (I had to count, lol) Anyway, I feel so much better in general. I don’t feel controlled by the feeling to ‘take a drag’ YUCK! I am enjoying reading about all the encouraging stories on here.
God Bless, Sarah
Hi Tiffany! I am proud of you also. I know just how hard it is. I am also 1 year smoke free. March 21st 2006 was my first day of a smoke free life. After trying every way possible to quit i finally went cold turkey. It was a rough ride, but I’m so glad i did it. I’m happy for you, and I know you will stay smoke free for the rest of your life now!! Great job!
Well done Tiffany! I am three months smoke-free and I don’t think, however tempting, I could go back. My salvation is the lozenges. I use them all day! But I have good advice they are not harmful and anything but the coughing, bronchial asthma, rib pain from coughing, social stigma and knowing that you smell!! Well done you!
Congrats. I will be 2 years smoke free on 7/4/07 at 8:38 p.m. I went cold turkey and am fine (still trying to loose some weight though…). I ocassionally still get cravings but manage to ward them off by walking or listening to music or keeping busy. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, David for the 4th of July story! That inspires me to try harder to quit smoking. I have cut way back, and doing better all the time. 7/4 is my goal.
