When I first learned the meaning of this funny sounding term, I thought to myself...Pfft! This is an old wive's tale. As time went by though, and I saw this concept play out in the quit programs of those involved in our support forum here at About.com over and over again, I began to realize there was something more to it.

Knowledge is Power!

The icky threes refer to particular phases of a person's quit program that can be bumpy and uncomfortable. Learn what to expect ahead of time as you move through the first few months of smoking cessation. It will equip you for success, and that, after all is what we all want!
