Curb cigarette cravings as they come, one-by-one. The most effective way to do that is to interrupt your thought pattern on the spot. Shift gears and do something different for a few minutes. Get out for a walk; drink a glass of water; stand up and do a few minutes of stretching. Change your activity, either mentally or physically, and the urge to smoke will lose its power and be gone before you know it.Photo © Stockxpert

(1) Andii (ex smoker) says:

There are loads of great and useful tips to help folks quit smoking for both men and women, but as someone who had attempted to stop a handful of times over 30+ years, I found that a determination to give up aided with will power alone was not enough after years of continual smoking. Yes I needed the above, but for me I also need a kick start to break the craving in those early days, and for me, it was nicotine patches which really helped.

What patches did was take away the craving which in turn took away the restlessness, irritability, and attitude of discontentment which make it so difficult to stop in those early days of smoking cessation. Just my 2 cents worth!
