FDA to Regulate Electronic Cigarettes as Tobacco Products

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced yesterday that it plans to propose changes that will allow  electronic cigarettes to be regulated as tobacco products rather than as drug delivery devices, which are governed by more rules that are more stringent.

The FDA says that the marketing of electronic cigarettes as quit aids could still be regulated as drug delivery devices.  There is no time line on the proposed changes.
