Definition:
Environmental tobacco smoke, or ETS, is defined as the combination of diluted sidestream smoke and mainstream smoke.

Dilution of sidestream smoke is dependent on several factors:

  • room volume
  • air exchange
  • temperature
  • humidity
  • number of people in the room
