Commonly reported symptoms of nicotine withdrawal include:
  • Cravings to smoke
  • Irritability, mood swings
  • Insomnia
  • Fatigue
  • Lack of concentration
  • Headache
  • Cough, sore throat, postnasal drip
  • Constipation, gas, stomach pain
  • Dry mouth, sore tongue, gums
  • Tightness in the chest
  • Increased appetite, weight gain
  • Feelings of loneliness/depression
  • Boredom/restlessness
Symptoms of nicotine withdrawal can and do include just about every discomfort you can think of. Most people will experience some of these symptoms, but rarely all of them. In general, the pains associated with nicotine withdrawal are short-lived. Be sure to check with your doctor if a physical reaction you're having to smoking cessation concerns you or if symptoms of nicotine withdrawal persist.
