Definition of COHb

Definition:
When carbon monoxide (CO) binds with hemoglobin in the red blood cells in the lungs, it's called carboxyhemoglobin (COHb). Measuring COHb in the bloodstream reveals the level of exposure a person has had to carbon monoxide.

Cigarette smoke can contain high levels of carbon monoxide.
