A Little About My Quit
I quit smoking 6 years ago cold turkey after a 35 year love/hate relationship with tobacco.
My Goodbye Letter to Smoking
To my nemesis:
Because of you, I spent 35 years and countless thousands of dollars damaging my precious and irreplaceable body. You promised me companionship and freedom, but in reality, you forced me into an abusive relationship and imprisoned me with the chains of addiction.
Because of you, I now have COPD, a lasting gift you gave me, turning the healthy pink tissue of my lungs dark and gloomy. You cannot be trusted -- you lie, steal and cheat all who trust you without exception.
And yet, for all of the hardship you've exposed me to, I do rejoice in the strength I never would have known I had without having met you. Now that I have freed myself, I can look back and realize that leaving you behind has taught me that I can overcome ANY challenge life puts in front of me. I am capable of so much more than I thought, and infinitely more than you thought. You wanted to keep me down, you wanted me to think life couldn't go on without you. Ha! I now know better.
You are a wolf in sheep's clothing who steals life without so much as a backward glance. I will NEVER fall for your lies again, and will do all I can to help others stay away from you too.
Goodbye and good riddance, tobacco. You will never fool me again.

- Keep your focus on quitting - don't let anything get in the way of it for any reason.
- Quitting doesn't last forever. A time WILL come when you won't miss smoking any longer. We were not born with cigarettes in our hands...with time, you can get back to a place where smoking is no longer a part of who you are.
