The Great American Smokeout

Wednesday November 19, 2003
This year, November 20th will mark the 26th annual Great American Smokeout, held by the American Cancer Society(ACS). The purpose of this event is to challenge Americans to quit smoking at least for this one day. From there, the hope is that people will permanently kick smoking out of their lives. Many have done just that, using the Smokeout as the start to a more healthy, smoke free lifestyle.

Since it began in the late 70's, The Great American Smokeout has helped to bring about dramatic changes in the way Americans regard smoking. As a result, many communities have adopted ordinances and programs which are saving lives. Smokeout activities are planned across the nation. Get involved! Let's make smoking history!
