Definition:
Mainstream smoke is defined as cigarette (tobacco) smoke which is emitted through a person's mouth after inhaling it. It is produced at a high temperature from the burning tip of a cigarette.
The composition of mainstream smoke is affected by how the smoker inhales and exhales, so it varies from person to person. The frequency of puffs, duration and volume all contribute to the makeup of exhaled mainstream smoke.
