Gratitude heals. Of all human emotions, gratitude is one of the most beneficial for our bodies and minds. A grateful heart knows no bounds, and for people who are recovering from nicotine addiction, gratitude plays an important role in the health of their quit programs.

Thanksgiving is a time for reflection of the blessings in our lives, of which we all have some. Smoking cessation Forum members have plenty, and they share them below:
"Believe it or not, I am actually kinda grateful that I smoked. The recovery has opened a whole new world for me. (since I can't unring that bell, I might as well be grateful) :-)." Dave(H1501)

"I am grateful I can walk outside now and see God's blessings & beauty all around me and breathe fresh air instead of reach for smokes." Paige (Howardsglen)

"I am grateful for my health and well-being and every new, smoke free day that I get to wake up and live my life." Heather (Hosk73)

"I am grateful for my smoke free life!" Janet (JJoslyn)

"Each and every day I'm thankful that I was able to stop smoking before my lungs got any worse. The breathlessness is eased, the coughing completely gone." Gaylene (Dadmont)

"I re-discovered the 'Other Me' through the process of recovery." Arvind (Arvindkalyanam)

"I sure am grateful that I don't stink like a nasty cigarette anymore...." Tammy (WRTTammy)

"I am blessed to be healthy." Linda (LindaBF19)

"I am grateful that I live by the ocean, where I can go and BREATHE in that special ocean air, which now smells so much better because I don't smoke." Sally (Sally1973)

"I'm grateful when I see/hear/feel that someone has found the right way to get through this process....by changing their thinking just a little." Anna (Irishannabanana)

"I am grateful that I can sleep without coughing.
I am grateful I will never ever have to burn holes in stuff - LOTS of stuff.
I am grateful I no longer have grayish teeth with stains on them. YECH.
I am grateful for my 2 years, 8 months of smobriety. I am grateful for it EVERY DAY." Lesly (Leslyr)

"I can start with one thing because it made the other things in my life fall into place. I'm grateful someone told me that if I wanted to change my life I had to change my mind. And so "New Kerri" was born. A healthy, happy, successful Kerri who nutures friendships and family instead of trying to find a breaking point so I could go hide to smoke." Kerri (KerriR)

"I am grateful for soooo very many things, but here are the few that rest at the top of the list...my family...my forumily...my health that I am learning to savor...my beautiful life and future, no matter what happens." Amy (BrightEyes87)

"I am grateful for my freedom from nicotine addiction and all the positive physical and psychological benefits that come with it." Michelle (QuitWit)

"I'm grateful for the fact that I can walk long distances now and not get out of breath. I'm grateful that I don't feel like the weight of the world is sitting on my chest anymore. I'm grateful for the ability to be able to smell my beautiful scented candles, even when they aren't lit." Avalonne

"I am thankful for the second chance that I've been given to live a smoke-free life." Dee (Thorsmom)

"I am grateful that I found this forum and with it was able to do what I was never able to do: QUIT SMOKING." Linda (Mllymyfld)

"I am grateful that I changed my mind and it is changing my life." Marge (MargeOR)

"Finding this Forum is truly something to be grateful for since it has helped me secure a determined quit, one that I would not have imagined possible just a few months ago." Kat (Katri111)

"I'm grateful I'm alive. Every night I work, I'm reminded of what could have happened and that I could have died this year. I'm grateful that I no longer smoke. Sure I get some thoughts now and then that a cigarette might be good, but that voice loses out every time." Jerry (JerBearRN)

"I'm grateful for being able to take a breath without a rattle in my chest." Mike (Mikelll)

"I'm grateful for my family; my forumily; my smobriety, hope, love; Im almost out of law school; my son is healthy, and my parents are healthy." Sarah (Attawayross)

"I am thankful for Today." Mar (StayinStrong)

"I'm thankful for this Forum because with out it, I don't know that my attitude would be the same as it is today."Gary (GladIStopped)

"Freedom from fear in this big decision has been spilling over into all sorts of things in my life - feeling the glow!" Betty (Blossom62)

"I'm thankful for the full deep breaths I can now take with ease. There was a time when my breathing was labored and wheezy. I'm thankful for my body's ability to heal." Terry (AbQuitSmking)

Have a Great Smoke Free Thanksgiving!
