I stand upon the mountain top
Gazing down below
My focus is on the pathway
And the rope that has me in tow.
I see the road less traveled
My footprints are very plain
I smile when I remember
How slowly was my gain.
I feel a tug upon the rope
I turn and see my friend
With knife in hand he cuts
And unties the other end.
I feel a little shiver
Up and down my spine
Not sure if I want to be
Free of this safe Lifeline.
I walk to the mountains edge
Look down the other side
I am amazed to see
So many people glide.
The path looks much smoother
Than from whence I just came
I see so many friends
That wave and call my name.
I raise my eyes to the heavens
Look down on the scene below
I take a deep, refreshing breath
And down the path I go.
It feels so different now
Sliding on my sled so fast
My freedom is in sight
Im headed home at last.
